I'm having problems plucking the middle G string. How do you do it?

There is nothing really difficult about learning to play single string. What it needs is practice, lot's and lot's of practice.
Pick with the thumb, then index, repeat etc, You should practice this on all strings 1 thru 4

I have a problem believing that as good a banjo picker as you are that you'd have trouble with any of the basics of playing the banjo. Surely you jest?

It sounds like you may have developed adult onset plectral deficit disorder. Have you tried using finger picks?

Hey Doug, I am open to giving you some lessons. When I get done with them you won't be able to pick any strings right. Or you could just ty "NOODLING AROUND", some fantastic local banjo player wrote that one.
