I learned the first two verses of this version of the old blues tune from James McKinney at Suwannee Banjo Camp. If I recall correctly, he said he learned it f and have added to the McKinney verses here. I still play the song in sawmill tuning, capoed up four frets where it fits my vocal range. Sawmill tuning works well for the common "blues scale."
