Here is a Tommy Jackson tune arranged beautifully by Bill Keith. Bill showed me this tune many years ago. I included a nice guitar break by Tony Rice...Jack    p.s. Juan Tereul from Spain and I worked on this beauty. We mostly did Chet pieces back then...

Crazy Creek

Nice! Didn't the Seldom Scene have a tune astonishingly similar to this? Cross Country maybe?

I have no idea Greg. Bill showed it to me before they even existed as I remember...Jack

My bad...it was Ben Eldridge and Cliff Waldron. Check out the 4th tune, side A.

Somewhere, in all my CDs and vinyls I have a recording of Crazy Creek. I'm going to have to go back and find it and listen to it and see if it sounds like this one.

Greg,
Bill arranged this in the 60s long before these groups existed...They are basically copying Bill's arrangement as I hear them....Jack

Bob Siggins of the Charles River Valley Boys (Google them) has this tune on the first album on the ancient Prestige label. I also have a vague memory of Bill playing a portion of the tune in his unique inimitable style (perhaps from one of his instructional videos). As for my absence, I was in the hospital after I tripped and broke my hip (damn, no more limbo contests!). Dave

I just discovered this video on UTube as a followup to my original contribution to the discussion several weeks back: /youtube.com/watch?v=1WmsfQ7ZwoA. A bonus quiz: what walks on four feet in the morning, two feet at midday and three in the evening? A: Man

Jack, you must be aware of the fact that the French edition of Bill's Something Auld LP came with tabs of all his breaks. The tabs are not credited but were possibly done by Jean-Marie Redon who authored an instruction book with Bill.

Thanks Hans,
I don't remember when those came out but Juan and I did those in the very early 70s and we included Tony Rice's break. I don't recall seeing that French batch of tabs until the 80s. It's a weird song anyway but fun...Jack

No, that can't be right because Tabledit came out in the late  90s. I think I may have learned it from Bill in Woodstock and then sometime later Juan and I put together Bill's tune in Tabledit. My ancient memory is failing me. I do remember that we did this tab before I ever saw the French version. I would probably have to contact Juan to get the correct answer. I could be wrong Hans but I trust what your recollection is...How are you these days?....Jack   p.s. Ha! it is possible that you may have sent me those copies of the French Keith tunes long ago?...
