I found a "la scala" tenor banjo for sale which seems in good condition. I know it was Oscar Schmidt branded but the maker was Rocco Antonio Carlucci, a luthier in NJ, as I learnt in BHO, but I never heard one.
I wanted to know about the quality of these banjos, well built ? powerful enough, with this special tone system ?
Asking price $800. Since it's far away from my place to go to check it out in person I'm trying to get information to know if it`s worth the trip.
Thanks

I had a similar banjo years ago, but do not remember what it sounded like. My thought is if the design was good, there would still be folks making a similar instrument today.

Because it's a pretty obscure make, I think it may be overpriced, even if it sounds good and is well made.

Maybe a concern. The bridge is quite tall. Perhaps a 9/16" or so. Tall bridges are helpful in overcoming string buzz.
