Hi, I recently asked for advice on the Washburn B16 and decided not to go that route, I'll save a little bit longer and I'm looking at the Deering Sierra or Gold Tone OB-3 Twanger. This Vega recently popped up for sale in my feed for $600.00, but I can't find any information on it. Just from the pictures it looks like a intermediate banjo like my Epiphone MB-250. But I know that Vega is a really good name. I appreciate any advice or information. I'm not sure if my photos uploaded properly when I click on them they don't seem to enlarge?

The photos on your home page show a Vega that was made by Galaxy Trading Co. in Korea. $600 is not really a bargain. You would be better off with the Sierra or the Gold Tone OB-3. Keep saving.

Robert,
That Vega is a import , just like thousands of others that look just like with other names.

Thank you for the information. I never knew that there were any Vega imports. I thought it was strange when it looked exactly like a Epiphone. I'll just save a little longer. Thank you Again??

Vega of California was the dba of Galaxy Trading Co. They bought Vega from the CF Martin Co. in 1979 and sold it to Deering ten years later. Depending on the year, they imported banjos from Japan or Korea. Yours appears to be made by the Sam Ick Co. in South Korea. The $600 price is someone's wishful thinking.
