Has anyone here ever traveled to the US Virgin Islands? What's your experience, and what do you recommend we seek out (and avoid)?
We've decided to travel to the US Virgin Islands for our next vacation. This will be our first real vacation in over a decade, and we're leaving the kids (6, 4, 1) behind! Figuring an "extra-long" weekend type vacation at a resort. All-inclusive, perhaps? Pure relaxation, we're adventurous and love hiking/biking but the primary goal of this vacation is to relax.
Yeah, it's a banjo forum. But I figured the userbase here probably has a decent amount of people that have travelled to the Caribbean a few times.
Debating between St John and St Thomas right now. St John and the park seems amazing, but St Thomas just seems more fun.
Went to St Thomas about 20 years ago. Typical idyllic Caribbean resort. Landscaped grounds on beatiful beach surrounded by razor wire to keep the locals out. Charlotte Amalie is a cute little ex-colonial town .Main downside was getting there. Even after I'd got to the US it was 3 flights: st louis to miami to puert rico to st thomas. Main memoris are feeding hibiscus flowers to iguanas and sailing a little dinghy from the resort beach and being accompanied by sea turtles.
