Bought one of these Bacophone Plus banjos a few years ago from Elderly.
Great instrument at a great price.

And . . . SOLD it is. Well, that was fast.  No surprise there, the price was very fair and the condition looked nice.

I have this model, also with the mahogany neck, and love it.  I guess it's all subjective whether you experience its tone personality as, a WL with extra warmth and body in the low end, versus a Bacon with extra sparkle or shimmer in the high end.  Either way, it's a uniquely seductive and beguiling tone personality.

What a brilliant description. I've never had the privilege of playing (or even seeing in the flesh) one of these, but that description has whatever the aural equivalent is of my tastebuds tingling.

Had a talk with my other banjos and they said it would be okay if this one came and joined them. Should be here by Thursday. Thanks for the heads up Bill!

You’re welcome….. i thought about driving over and trying it, but it would fill no empty niche—and I have a very cool Enoch on the way, which whacked my banjo budget for a while. I have played probably at least a couple dozen Reiters over the years, and, though they were excellent banjos, none went beyond the Essex Concert Grand I’ve played for most of my life. So I was happy to post its availability—knowing it might find a home with someone who doesn’t regularly check Gryphon’s site as I do.
