Does anyone here have, or know where I could purchase, about an inch of the ivory colored binding used on KK-11 resonators, and similar Gibson resonators of that era?

That's going to be tough, Rives.
It is ungrained celluloid binding that was originally white, and has changed color with age.
I looked. I don't have any.
The modern plastics won't match well, even if you try to dye them.  Most of them don't accept dye well.

I know three sources for white celluloid binding: LMI, Axiom Inc., and Rothko and Frost.
Unfortunately, there is a [currently] $44 hazardous materials shipping surcharge that companies in the US have to pay on any shipment containing celluloid, whether it's one piece or 50 lbs. worth. If you ordered from LMI or Axiom, that would raise your bill by $44.
Rothko and Frost are in the UK. They might not have to charge the 44 bucks, but I'm not sure about that.

I'm going to suggest that you contact some mandolin builders that build close replicas of old Gibson mandolins. Some of them use the ungrained white celluloid, and be willing to drop a piece in an envelope for you.  Be sure you specify ungrained binding.  You'll have to find something to dye it with and cross your fingers that you can get a good match.  Sometimes amber dye will work.  I have heard of others using concentrated tea and a little acetone, but I've never been able to get that to work.

I have an idea. Look for a PM in your email.

If nothing else pans out, I do have some modern plastic white binding that I could send. It will be hard to color, though. PM me if you want to go that route.

Check with Clancy Mullins. He just finished a style 11pearloid neck for me. It may be worth a try.

Good luck with that Rives—I have a drawer full of ivory and ivoroid binding, plus a lot of scraps, and it's all a little bit different.

Thanks Will,

I spoke with Clancy this morning, and he is going to send me a few pieces that I can get a match from.

You could try Rothko and Frost. They have some celluloid binding and sheets and do not charge a hazardous fee, at least not from UK to Canada
