Beginner here. Playing in double c capoed up to d. Trying to learn to bum ditty for backup by holding various chords for the strum. For a beginner, what note should I play for the finger note for each chord on the first beat?

Try alternating between strings 3 and 4 on each strum.

Using your ear, try to play a note within the melody on the appropriate string.

You can play simple bass lines leading up to (or down to) the chord brush, too.
