Does anyone know or have an idea of how many Fender Artist 5-strings from California (60's-70's) were made? It seems like they come up for sale here on the BHO and other on line selling sites fairly often. It doesn't seem like they are all that rare. I have one and I love it. If something ever happens to it I would like to find another one.

I love mine also tho I don't love hauling it around and the arm cramps i get... There may be info in the old serial number threads about total production, or how many rims/necks etc Fender bought from Salstrom, which should be the same.

They were more numerous than Gibson RB 250s perhaps, back in the 1970s. The Odes were also popular and numerous then.

I've never read anything here on BHO on total numbers of either. I do remember many a statement that the serial #s on Fenders were random.
