I'd get more done. However society would collapse which would probably have a bigger affect on things.

the dust is a long way from settling on the internet experience--I think the like/ dislike buttons have lost their initial charms as have electronic fame --the real world is biding it's time--a real hello pimpslaps an'' awesome'' or''beautiful'' under someone's selfie liked by friends???? friends- that would ride on past you stranded on the highway

I think everything evolves and imagining how things could be better is what fuels that evolution.
You can't put folks back on the farm after they've seen Paree,Al.

Now that we're ramping up our own chip factories(Chips Ahoy) this evolution will shift into high gear.

And what if that computer virus collected all your internet traffic and stored it in server farms located on large barges that are dock in international waters so no country's laws would have any effect on any legal or illegal use or distributing or selling that data. Wouldn't certain three letter agencies love that?

Well, I'd miss the Hangout if I didn't have a computer. Guess I'd have to go back to enclyclopedias (if they even exist nowadays) to find information that I can find by doing a Google search. I'd have to go back to shopping at stores and not finding what I wanted.

I would be smarter than my vehicle if it had no computer gadgets to confound and confuse me. (G)

I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of those other social things because I don't think they are necessary.

I don't spend all day and half the night on my cell phone roaming around so that wouldn't bother me at all.

I would really enjoy being able to visit with my kids and friends without them having their face stuck in their cell phone 24/7.

In other words, some things would be better, some things more difficult, but I'd learn to live with them.

Working in the medical profession we rely on PACS systems and Epic systems.
When they go down for the day or even a few hours there is panic. I would bet someday it all goes away and records lost, along with banking systems and what not!!! We are not prepared for that and how would we ever get it back??? I’m no computer wizard, but God help us when the $#it hits the fan, not to mention not being able to post on the food forum!!!

Time with family/friends in a restaurant would actually involve conversation.

I use facebook with a few friends less than 20 -all but 2 are real friends --I ignore facebook's ways of trying to stir me such as calling me by first name or asking me to wish happy birthdays to folks -that i never did before. Facebook is handy to holler at real friends about real world things.about it though.
The net and online shopping is here to stay as is ability to find learn details about all things things known to man. It is on one of millions of servers somewhere. This I like
I think the glued to the phone and trying to pile up views is going to get tiresome in a decade or 2 .

the oddest to me is wealth is simply where the amount of voltage/current adds up to put the decimal point on a column on a screen

I went to a walk-in clinic when I was experiencing dizziness and the "doctor" did not even look at me, or in my direction! The nurse had taken my vitals and done the interview, he walked in and read her notes, wrote a prescription, muttered "this should fix you up" to the floor, and walked out without ever setting eyes on me, sitting three feet away!

Loosing everything due to an internet fault is not impossible. We do have backup sources and good security measures but what if ? For starters it's a good habit to do monthly print outs of your bank or investment accounts. Many people could loose everything but with paper evidence a court could likely rule in your favour.

My investment portfolio is self administered.  Part of it is a registered pension fund similar to a 401k in the U.S.  I make my own changes and remove cash if I choose. I get to choose  new term deposits based on a long list they provide involving several of the major banks in the country. Sixteen times a year I can buy or sell a listed stock for a brokerage fee of $8. For most of these advantages I have to keep my own records to protect myself. Nobody in the world really cares whether I keep my own records or not.
