On another thread I noted that I bought my favoite banjo at Jon & Deirdre Lundberg’s shop in Berkeley many years ago. Anyone else here who owns or owned an instrument they bought at Lundbergs’?

I got an Eagle banjo from Jon in 72 before getting out of the Air Force and heading back east to home. It served me well several years. The arched top was great for clawhammer and it sounded great using the finger styles as well. It took me from an old no name open back a little further along on the journey. My that was a long time ago.
Yes indeed! I bought my beloved 1925 Vega Tubaphone from Lundberg’s in the spring of 1980, and it’s been my main banjo ever since! In fact, I just mounted a new skin head on it this week, after three years of having a Fiberskyn head on it since my last skin head split at Clifftop in 2019. I just tried out the new head playing with Suzy and Eric Thompson tonight, and it finally feels like I have my own banjo voice back again! This banjo has formed my style to a great extent, and I will never part with it. Thank you to Lundberg’s, and to Jere Canote, who tipped me off that he saw it hanging on the wall there - over 42 years ago!
