Iam trying to determine how long Gibson has been applying dots to denote certain frets and when did they add two dots to the twelfth fret?

Gibson installed side dots all the way back. My '23 trapdoor has side dots.
Some of the plainer models do not always have them.

Gibson mandolins had them at least as far back as 1910. It's been a while since I've seen one built earlier, but I would expect to see them all the way back to 1905.

Double dots at the 12th fret on original RB's start to appear by 1936. But the change is not uniform. Later banjos can be found with single dots.

Double dots at the 12th fret is common amongst makers as it marks the next octave up the neck. I have seen 24 fret and more instruments with 3 markers at the 24th following the same convention.

As far as Gibson banjos go, here is a 1919 model with them. 1919 was the first year for Gibson banjos.

Here is a 1902 Gibson Mandolin.

My earlier post was specifically about side dots. Single side dots go all the way back.
Double dots on the side of the board first start to appear about 1936.

Dots on the face of the fingerboard are slightly different.  Yes, they also go all the way back, but include double dots on the 12th fret from the beginning.  Fancier fingerboard inlays appear on all models 3 and above by 1925.  After that, dots on the fingerboard face are only used on some of the budget models.

Same on the tenor neck of my 28 TB3. The 5 string conversion neck does have two dots at the 12th.

Interestingly enough, the neck on my 2003 RB75 Crowe only has 1 dot at the 12th fret.

My 1929 RB3 flathead has a single dot at the 12th fret and my 1936 RB75 has two
