I picked up this project yesterday,I’m very curious as to what it might be.It’s about 19 1/8” scale length, has 28 shoe brackets and needs a 12 5/8” head.
The only name anywhere is the brass plate that says “LESTER”.
I sent an email to Bob Smakula just this morning but I do need 4 hook and nuts, these are brass but I wouldn’t be particular about material, the old brass hardware is rather fragile I’ve found.
It's a banjeaurine.
Yes, a banjeaurine missing the part of the fingerboard that extended over the head.
Lyon & Healy was the maker.
Also missing the two wooden wedges that fit between the rim and that triangular metal bracket screwed to the dowel stick. Those wedges are very important and should be in place before tuning to pitch.
I suppose you caqn't tune this properly, anyway, because the nut is gone, too.
