Today I was listening to some of the later Flatt & Scruggs Bear CD's64-69 Vol 2&3. Everyone says he was burnt out by then. Sonny says to listen to the stuff up to 53 I believe. But listen to the tone of his banjo on Southbound. Man, it was beautiful! And they still did some great songs like 10 Miles from Natchez. I get listening to Scruggs and go thru stages: 1st of sublime, 2nd of gluttony - just keep listening to it over and over and 3rd of despair cause I will never play 2 notes in a row..heck 1 note in a row as good as he did.
Foggy Mt. Special is some sort of brilliant isn't it.

ps. I wish I had half the ear that guys like you, Jack Hatfield, JMB have because there is a lot of back up I can't make out. but i will enjoy trying anyway.
