I just called Jim Bennett who was highly regarded luthier in our area and got an answering machine saying he was out of the business. I live 1 hour from Indianapolis and 2 from Louisville and would be happy to go to either place if I could be assured the luthier did quality work. Can anyone make any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

I know it's very far, but I think Frank & Ricky Neat are in Russell Springs, KY about 3.5/4hrs from Bloomington.

What kind of work are you looking to get done?

They are great as is Arthur Hatfield in the same distance. I just need an old epiphone guitar neck adjusted and I have some dead spots in a banjo neck. I would rather not drive the 7 hours round trip right now. And I don't know if any of them do guitar necks.

But they are top of the line men - Thanks.

Right, Hatfield as well, can't believe I forgot him. Another top notch guy for sure.

I don't blame you, 7 hour trip is grueling.

Joseph Shreve (guitardoc.com) did an excellent job setting up a D28 for me a few years ago. I'm not sure if he works on banjos, but if he does not, he may know someone who does, so it could be worth emailing him either way. He works out of Fortville, Indiana (Hamilton Co.).
