On a serious note. My stance is: If a person wants this inside them that’s their personal choice do it go for it if it makes you happy I will not stand in your way or push any resistance to that person’s decision. BUT I will have a BIG problem if these HIVE MINDED individuals demand this becomes OH I don’t know mandatory? Been there done that.

I agree with 5B: I don't want anything like that in my body, but if others wish to have it done, go for it.

Like our man Larry ^^ , some are fine with [police?] surveillance as a matter of routine.

Is an imbedded chip just a matter of degree?   ... where a person is comfortable with "the line" being drawn [even if based on a hunch]?

The net? No. A chip? Sure, for the right reasons. Done all the time.

My veterinarian will do it for about $50. But I refuse to go for their "Fix-n-Chip" special.

What if you found out you already had a chip implanted in you but under false pretenses? I always thought it was strange timing that the automotive industry was experiencing a chip shortage about the same time as.....oh never mind that's crazy conspiracy talk.

I suppose it could be just me, but I think there's l-o-t-s of scope for assorted screw-ups, jiggery-pokery and nefarious goings-on without them being part of, or connected to, some wide-ranging conspiracy, imaginary or otherwise.

Maybe something like this, Al?   Imagine the compliance!"   Pfizer CEO explains new "ingestible" microchip.

Bill-e, I can't foresee any problems whatsoever with that ^^ chip, or even the technology per se, as the info only goes to relevant authorities.   wink

An internal chip with vitals reading all the time might extend folks' ability to remain home alone for longer.

My prediction d'jour is that within 50 years we will have chips (or their next iteration) injected/ingested for whatever skill we want, instantly.
For instance John Q. Public could be a passenger on a Mars shuttle when all of a sudden the pilot goes to see God.
JQP gets a shot and saves the day.

I don’t understand this obsession with sticking chips in our bodies I thought that was reserved for space aliens and their implants.

.... by any chance is there a [transit] bus stop just outside your bedroom window? wink

Edit:  Experienced that ^^ one summer 'way back on Broadway Av. in Wpg.  .... within walking distance to a couple of bars .... arguments a couple of times a week after closing time, without fail.   Not particularly  vexing at that age/stage.  C'est la vie!

Chipping, two aspects, voluntary and involuntary. I'm obviously opposed to involuntary chipping and imagine that at least 3 out of 4 here would agree, but that's just a guess. I am often surprised at the strength of the various pro-involuntary positions.

But how do we feel about *voluntary* chipping----if the implants yield enhanced capabilities? If Super-Hero abilities are going to become available---for those who can afford it---- is anything off limits?

If a chip could make me play better than Earl?

Still a hard NO.
