Has anyone ever used the Dapper Dampner banjo mute and tone enhancer? I am more interested in using it to enhance tone and eliminate overtones than as a mute. If you have used it, what was your experience? Would you recommend it? It is a little pricey, but probably worth it depending on bow it works.

I've got a couple of them for different banjos and think quite highly of them. They are adjustable in two ways. First, closer to or further from the bridge, and second, how much pressure they apply to the head. So, there's a lot of flexibility there. As to whether it can address your specific overtone issue--??? But it's worth a try.
As for the product itself, it is very well made and looks better than the "sock" that it replaces.

Actually, we both spelled it wrong. According to their advertising, it is spelled "Dampener," not "Dampner," and not "Damper."

The Burns "Mechanical Sock" ...
... also adjustable in pressure applied to the head and position along the dowel stick.
