Well, I applied and received notice a month ago I was accepted. But I cannot afford to go so most likely can't attend.

I knew that when I applied but they also offered financial aid as part of the application process. At the time I applied I thought I could swing it on credit and said so, that I'd attend either way. But health issues have gobbled that up pretty much so no longer realistic for me.

As of today they still have not told me if the aid (of any amount) has been approved or denied. They have not been the greatest at communications, ignoring several emails before AND after I applied. Of the five emails I've sent them since March asking about various aspects of the camp, they've only responded to one. "Have questions? Email and ask!" Then crickets ... pretty much ignored. So maybe that's my answer. I hope no one else has experienced this communications black hole.

Anyway, just wondering who else might be going or planning on going...

I’ll be there!

Sorry to hear about the communications issues. Hopefully it gets sorted out and you’ll be able to come. It’s a great camp.

Hey Frank, sorry to hear of your health problems, never fun no matter whether a person is young or old, hope you are doing better!  Send me an email if you want me to try to see if I can get something back from them, long shot, but like I said... Jonathan (I am registered to attend, hopefully my car does not break down hah)

The ONLY email these folks replied to was right after I was accepted, I called them on the phone to inquire about the status of financial aid and was told they would be deciding quickly. I also followed up with an email right after that and that's they only email they ever replied to. Basically, they said they'd be announcing soon. That was 4 weeks ago.

Anyway it's this darned trigeminal neuralgia ... it kicked in again last November and since then I've had 16 more acupuncture sessions so it's almost under control again. So far I've had a total of 34 acupuncture sessions since this started nearly two years ago.

(I should clarify that I do have the credit to attend, just that the amount I had allocated for this camp got gobbled up over the last few months. I would prefer not to use credit in case I need it for more important things. Acupuncture (which is affordable) plus various independent diagnostics add$ up.)

Anyway, I may still bite the bullet and attend, it would be tons of fun and a once in a lifetime experience. It's just ... expensive ... I just wish the Camp would do the basic courtesy of letting folks know yes or know. Not knowing leaves me in some limbo which is an unfun place to be.

Thanks and maybe see you guys there after all. Who knows? I sure don't LOL!!!

Frank, your playing reflects a wellspring of creativity. I'm sure it would be nice for the other participants to be exposed to your musical gifts; as it would be nice for you to be exposed to theirs. It sounds like the camp will be a great meeting of inspired musicians. If they can't find a way to have you there, it would be a loss for the camp. But, whatever comes to pass in regards to the camp, your imaginative well will still be on tap, waiting for you to continue pouring it forth.

Frank, definitely worth the stretch to go. It's an experience of a lifetime.

And Sam, it'll be great to see you again! A long time since SMBA.

Okay, after all considerations, I have decided to give it a try. I went ahead and made my initial $500 deposit just now without knowing whether it's refundable or not, or if any assistance is coming, or not.

Maybe if they see I have some skin in the game they'll answer my emails. As of today, they have ignored all my inquiries (except the one they answered 5 weeks ago) including those I made after posting here. To be clear I do not attribute this lack of common courtesy to any of the principals of this camp. I'm assuming it's Brevard staff who are being non-responsive.

Any idea why they are being like this? This seems very discourteous to me.

In any event, my mini-van seats 7 adults comfortably. If anyone in the upstate area is interested in riding together to reduce travel costs let me know, there's room.
