How accurate is cellphone tracking data..?
Dose each cellphone have it's own finger print..?(for lack of a better discription)
Google sends me a log of places I have been..each month..
Well..where me cellphone has been each month..
Like most folks I have it with me ..most if not all the time..
I recommend that you find on YouTube Eric Snowden explain why he does what he does with a cellphone. I’m pretty sure the government agencies does not want everybody and their brother know about this.

Yes each device that connects to a network has a unique Machine Access Code (MAC) which will be recorded in all the logs.
Snowden isn't exactly revealing the secret of perpetual motion. You can't really run a mobile phone system that doesn't know where you are or who you are. And the fact that this data is retained by those who can possibly turn it into cash is hardly surprising. But if you get a frisson by believing that this is something "they" don't want you to know about, and that you are in an informed elite by knowing it then good luck to you.
The Google log on an android phone is something different. You can easily switch it off.
As to accuracy. Depends on the density of cellphone masts - so more or less high in town and lower out of town.
Any tools that may have been designed for malevolent use originally can and have been turned into tools used for benevolent use. It all depends on the user of those tools. OR “gadgets”
Older phones needed to be triangulated in order to find their position, and it wasn't that great. Newer phones can trace to within feet using the GPS in the phone. Also, as Andrew mentioned, the density of towers makes a difference when triangulating.

Well you are forgetting satellites and gps and that little pesky device called DRONE. If you’re looking for something or keeping constant servailance on something of importance there are number of tools in the tool box available.

There's a difference between you (and Google or Apple - if you choose to tell them) knowing where you are by GPS and your phone company (and anybody with access to their data) knowing where you are through mast triangulation. If I were going to commit a bank heist I'd make sure I didn't have my phone with me either way.

No Andy..no frisson involved at all...
I am not headed down the path that you may be implying..
There is a documentary that has just come out..
There are folks .. claiming that this kind of tracking is not that accurate..
I do not know if it is or is not..so I asked...
Seems to me that the tracking is very accurate..
After looking into it a bit...
Just wanted other folks that may know about this stuff to give thier opinion..

This is the only fourm site that I do go to..to ask folks..so..

I can be tracked. The only result will be boredom to the one tracking me. At least the convenient features of the phone will work.
