You all might think I’m losing it (the jury’s still out on that) but I’ve experienced a totally baffling thing here. It’s almost humorous, but here goes.
I often leave my lower denture under an upside down cup on the kitchen counter. Yesterday I could NOT find it anywhere ,, searching high and low around my apt. and even going down to check my car, figuring maybe my absent-mindedness had me putting it somewhere unusual. Well, I finally went to bed thinking it’ll show up somewhere in a day or two. So this morning I get up, look under that same cup I checked 10 times yesterday and voila! there lays my lower denture. Absolutely stunned me,, no explanation, never in my life experienced anything like that before.
Anyone had this kind of experience? Tell me I’m not going crazy….

You can't lose something you didn't have, and it's hard to say you're going crazy when you're already there. Speaking, of course, form personal experience.

Months ago I started a similar thread in off-topic, about how great a magician I am because *poof* things disappear right before my eyes and *poof* then reappear.

Just accept the awe and wonder of the mastery and skill it takes to pull of the tricks you're describing. Can you imagine how many years it takes all the great magicians to master these skills that seem to come to you naturally? You're so good, you don't even know how you do it! That's some serious talent.

if you are absolutely sure about this you are so lucky to get this proof --I always get a busy signal from any proof seeking-but I keep the fingers crossed and live by religious type rules anyway so I should be in somewhat of a good shape when I go to the land of dead denture renters

Chuck: "Anyone had this kind of experience? Tell me I’m not going crazy…. "

Part 1: Yes, I and MY wife have had [same event].... not losing or misplacing something, but definitely otherworldly.   Two sane and rational people who were there know what transpired..... others who weren't there dismiss it and speculate "just because we can't explain something now doesn't mean we won't be able to in the future, yada yada, yada."

Part 2:  No can do.... you're on yer own.   wink

Edit: As to the "scary" part, we just took the fatalistic (?) approach.... figured that any force/entity that could pull off what happened has to be infinitely smarter or more powerful that we were, so no use getting excited about things....  c'est la vie.

Maybe you unconsciously put your dentures back under the cup in the middle of the night--sleepwalking.

But where would I find them in the middle of the night to do that? Maybe my subconscious mind knew where I’d put them?

... sleepwalking ... and/or ... they were probably in your mouth the whole time ... ?

Kinda like me looking for my reading glasses when they're on my head the entire time. *Poof* like magic...

Saw a pretty good magic trick on Penn & Teller last night. Penn & Teller couldn't explain it, and neither can I. It must have been other worldly because there is no other possible explanation. It defied all known laws of physics.

Also known as Attentive, or sometimes Inattentive Blindness.  It's why you don't see the trailer truck coming when you pull out into the intersection.

My trick is after I've looked in the same place 10 or more times to have my wife look there and it will be right in front of her.  I suspect she's the one hiding them.

Did you happened to think, lay the cup on it's side after the 5th time looking under it? I don't mean to be rude but if it where me I think I would have done something different with the cup. I need to see the setup maybe your dentures got lodged inside the cup and every time you looked under it they were stuck inside. Did you slam the cup down on the last time you looked under it. Just trying to figure out why after 10 times they suddenly appear where you placed them in the beginning. Our like I posted before It's the time builders they build time ahead of us they reconstruct space when we go into that space and sometimes they forget to build the space exactly the way we leave that space and then return to that space. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Next time when you look for something and it's not there, calmly but assertively ask that the object you are looking for be put back where you left it.

I figure if guardian angel's were to exist--some would have attitude issues when the boss wasn't watching.I know some of the folks I knew that have gone on,would be suggesting ideas on the dentures-

Here's what happened:
Chuck had a dream that he couldn't find his dentures. In his dream he looked all over for them. Then, when he woke up in the morning, he found his dentures where he left them. Dreams seem so real sometimes and he still doesn't realize it was all a dream.

or:
a toothless ghost took them out on the town last night.

I've always wondered why ghosts have such a hard time communicating with the living. If they have enough strength to pick up a set of dentures, surely they can pick up a pen and write you a note.

Heidi-cat died October 29,2021. About once a week(?) since then, I have become convinced that her ghost walks across the bed at night. I can feel every footstep. Got a new cat 10 days ago that has not yet got up on the bed by herself, for whatever reason. Last night, I actually sat up, the sensation was so pronounced. Nobody there.

My son moved to Colorado 2 years ago.  We've repainted and remodeled his bedroom, which is now my wife's office.  Nobody lives here except my wife and I, 3 cats, a dog and a brown headed parrot.  At night I hear the familiar sounds of my son going in and out of his room and to the bathroom or down the stairs.  He's not dead, so it's not his ghost.

I also feel my phone vibrate in my pocket, even though no calls or texts come in.  I even feel it when the phone is not in my pocket.

5B Ranch,, you got me thinking, so I checked to see if the denture could bind inside the inverted cup, but no - the diameter of the cup is too large for that.

Time builders yep seen it happen to me but I'm aware of their deficiencies and their inability to get everything exactly like it was when we leave a space and then return to that space. Which more or less proves we are living in a virtual reality or matrix. Or we drift in and out of a parallel universe one where you don't wear dentures. It could be either/or or all of the above just depends on the alien working the game controller and how it (alien) feels at the moment.

Sorry Chuck I haven't seen if you live alone or not. Perhaps the DW is messing with you? Mine just throws my stuff out when I'm not looking so that was my first thought. Or you might really have a poltergeist? It could be so. My girls both claim our house is haunted as do their friends. I have never seen evidence of this my own self but they seem certain. What's weird is we built this place 25 years ago and know for certain no one has ever passed away here....
