Another one I’m not sure if I’ve shared here, so this is my rendition of Ashokan Farewell - tuning is Double C, and I left it un-capo’d, so I’m playing in the key of C.

As this video so beautifully demonstrates, feeling is really the most important attribute to the meaningfulness of music.

We discuss style, technique, instrument setup, and tone. This video provides ample scope for evaluating these and other aspects of banjo playing.

Emotional expressiveness in music is something that is more difficult to describe in words. Feeling emanates from the heart, is conveyed through the body, and emerges from an instrument. Musical feeling resides in an area that is ultimately beyond words.

Thank you for sharing that perspective Paul!  It is definitely an emotional piece of music, it begs to be played with feeling. And every person can find their own interpretation of it. That's one of the things I am enjoying most about exploring music.

Thank you for watching it, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Very nicely done. I worked out an arrangement, but in open C. I follow it with a bouncy "Mairi's Wedding."

Thanks Don!  I do love some brushiness:-). They really help fill out some nice harmonies in there when brushing through chords at these more stately tempos.

Keep at it, it'll eventually click, and then that bum-ditty will get into your blood :-)
