Just read the news on Don Borchelt’s FB page. Cancer moved in quick and took him out,, he was 74.
Here’s one of his well known songs.

This breaks my heart. Bill was one of my "prime" musical influences and he will be sorely missed.

Bill was a local guy. I saw him a few times at small venues. He’s left a wonderful musical legacy.

Sad, sad, sad. A great loss.

There is a coffeehouse on Cape Cod that he played every year for almost 40 years. He used to always sell it out. I saw him many times and bought his albums when there was such a thing as albums. A real talent and I will miss him. He had a great knack for writing memorable songs.

Sad news. RIP Bill Staines. Mary, our banjo player, introduced "Roseville Fair' to the Bluegrass Jam here in Kingston, and we put it in the Limestone City String Band's set list.
