The reason is, I bought this Gibson Hummingbird. I'm so pleased with it, it's all I have been playing the last few weeks. The banjo will be back though… There's more than the banjo in this world.

Very nice.

Done the same thing myself a few times over the decades.

The one thing that I noticed when I stepped away from the banjo for an extended period to focus on another instrument , was that when I returned to the banjo, aspects of it seemed much easier. So essentially a good thing.

Enjoy that beautiful guitar.

I did that too after I bought my 1931 Martin D-28 Authentic. Just could'nt put it down. "Babe I'm gonna Leave" by Led Zeppelin, sounds a whole lot better on it than it did on my $400 Aria.

Nice, Emile. I love playing guitar too,, it’s a nice change from banjo. Have a blast on that Gibby.

Thanks! It's new, very recent, 2021. It looks though that this vintage cherry sunburst might have been discontinued, I see (as far as cherry is concerned) nothing but the heritage vintage sunburst for the Standard Hummingbird now, also on the Gibson website (more orange than red, don't like so much). Might return though…

I played a borrowed one of those in the pit band for "Anything Goes" when I was in high school - unforgettable sound & feel. Congrats!

I dont play my 67 D18 as mucjh as I should any more and lately its bee a hit and miss on banjo as my carpal tunnel reached a new height of interruption. Tried today for a few songs and it was a nightmare good thing no one was around to hear. That Humming Bird is a fine guitar....a friend had a Dove and my brother-law had a 56 sj gibson.....gibson made top of the line acoustic guitars. lots of luck with yours.

If I don't play an instrument, each day spent not playing seems to have an adverse effect on my playing. Hefitz said that if he did not play for a few days, he noticed that his playing was not as good. If he did not play for a week or so, other musicians noticed that his playing was not as good. And, if he did not play for a longer period of time, everbody noticed the problem.
