Hi banjoists--some of you have asked if I give online lessons--so will be giving 2- 1 hour zoom workshops for the North Georgia Foothills Dulcimer Association Virtual Fall Festival. If you are interested in experimenting on zoom with me for the classes--think it will be lots of fun--but the last date to sign up is Nov. 11th because the festival starts on Nov. 18
Here are the course descriptions & the link to sign up for each course. The NGFDA is handling all the registration and money collection & will have me send you instructions and links for the course after you sign up. There is also a virtual concert and I'll be playing on the Thursday night.
Clawhammer Banjo Basics for the right & left hand :) Other 1 T-2 Your left hand is what you know & your right hand is who you are. :) If you have begun banjo but never seem to be able to play smooth--this workshop is for you. We will work on right hand exercises including the super duper drop thumb roll. And quickly review left hand basics. Then we'll learn Ernie Carpenter's "Elk River Blues" in G --a beautiful slow fiddle tune & a fast dance tune "Squirrel Heads & Gravy in the key of G . Please come tuned in gDGBD & ready to have fun & become a stronger player. I'm marking the level as advanced beginner although this workshop is great for all levels --if you can tune your banjo in G and you can play 1 or 2 tunes already.
Beautiful banjo that plays nicely with dulcimers :) Other ALL F-3 Does your banjo misbehave and holler at dulcimer gatherings ? Would you'd like to play nicely with a dulcimer group at maybe a wedding or celebration ? Tune up in double D tuning--aDADE and we'll learn 2 of my favorite D tunes I've played at weddings. "Southwind" & John Stinson's #2" Although I've checked all levels--you should be able to tune your banjo in double D--have some way to capo your 5th string to A & be able to already play several tunes in double D. But this would still be good instruction for anyone on banjo
Hope we can try this together :)
Best banjo wishes,
Mary Z. Cox
