Good dark and early morning from chilly and cloudy Kingston, Ontario. It's 3C now and will hit 10C later under sun and cloud. Not much happening in these parts, except for making appointments for furnace salesmen to drop by. Here's a hunting scene by Quebec artist Marcelle Bouchard. Somewhat different from the usual.

Have a great day!

G’mornin’, from the foothills of the northern Rockies. A cool rainy day today, highschool in the upper 40’s (*^ ‘s) with showers. Watching baseball playoffs, practicing new tunes, Christmas carols (!) , and brushing up on old ones.
A lunch stop on old Route 66 in Arizona a few years ago. (the fricasseed lizard was delicious)

Good morning from N E Ohio. May the day bring peace and tranquility to you all.
Well, it's time to bring in the patio furniture to the shed and garage. Gotta clean the cushions and rearrange the garage a little. So exciting I just can't stand it!
Thanks for the pics, Paul and Chuck.

Have a super Saturday everyone.

Paul R That painting reminded me of the late great outdoor sporting humorist Pat McManus.

Sort of keeping with that theme, I spotted this little one on a recent hike. It was strangely unafraid (I was about 20’ away when I took the photo). It had been on the trail ahead of me and just walked off when I approached. It moved off to the side of the trail and we just stood there looking at each other.

Good morning!
Had a fun day yesterday.
Hit an estate sale, got a $200 vacuum cleaner for $20.
Took it home, cleaned out the crud, LOTS of crud, cobbled together a missing piece out of PVC plumbing pipe, and it seems to function JUST FINE.

Good Morning from overcast and cool Northeast Wisconsin. Trees have finally turned so yard has a golden hue but that will be gone in a week or so and leaves will be on the ground to be picked up or blown into the neighboring woods. Almost all the fall yard chores are done, just a few things to put up. Hauled a rick (face chord) of fire wood to the patio yesterday and will do another today then am ready for Old Man Winter to show up. We normally keep about 3+ full chords of wood out back (100 ft from the house) to dry and for the critters to nest in then bring 2 face chords to the patio as we need them for winter heat. Keeps the critters away from the house.
Have a great weekend, keep safe.

Good morning from cool and cloudy Southeastern PA. Quite quiet today for these parts, so far. Fall color has just started to pick up now!

Anyway, have a nice day all you folks,

+5C/40F and high overcast. Might need to find some ruffed grouse for supper tonight.
And that's exactly what we do: drive logging roads, watching the right-of way scrub for the chickens.
I have a lovely Baikal S/S 20 that feeds on 7.5 shot for chickens. O/U Baikal12 is about the same.
2PM until dusk is plenty. Whatever you do today, hope it's time well wasted.

Hunting used to be one of my priorities , but no more , like some others . I remember one VERY cold winter day grouse hunting walking up hill thru a frozen creek bed & there were 3 grouse on branches over hanging the creek & I think they were just too cold to fly ? I walked under them & let them be not taking advantage of their frigid state .

I never shoot grouse out of trees, no matter how easy and temping the shot might be.
They are gut-shot messy inside. Trees and cliff edges are our "get-out-of-jail-free" cards here.

More often than not, they are in the understory of our conifer forests, putting on a display of broken-field running that the NFL ought to be watching.

It is really windy, not good chicken weather. Wood carving time on the Tlingit halibut hooks.

Sun is getting ready to set. Went up town with my grocery list. It said Bacon. Supper. Beer.

I got chicken wings we're dusting up with buffalo wing dust & the makings for a spinach salad & you know I got the beer!

Hope i can stay awake for Svengoolie! I almost dozed off just reading the description of it here!
