Ok, I'm fixing this old tenor banjo and I notice the tailpiece has has five holes, someone must have swapped it from a 5 string. Apparently this is a 17 fret Slingerland. Can anyone point me to the appropriate tailpiece for this instrument? Thanks!

A 5-string tailpiece works just fine with 4 strings. Just skip the middle spot. I'm sure a lot of Slingerland tenors came from the factory with 5-string tailpieces.

Slingerland used just about every tailpiece ever made, so don't worry about what's appropriate. And as stated above, a 5 string model will work if you just skip the middle hole.

You're not too busy picking up the low-muscle SoCal vigilante work the A-Team passes up?

If you like schadenfreud - my punishment for telling dad-jokes is I will have the Thrasher Brothers singing "Best of Friends" in my head for the rest of the night. I might have to finish restringing my banjo so I can see if I can figure it out...
