I saw on a couple of websites the Geoff is retiring at the end of this year. Anyone know for sure, other than Geoff! whether this is factual....and if it is, will production also cease at the end of this year?
BTW - I've owned 2 Stellings - still have one - and both are cannons, in a good way :-)
Years back I recall his son jimmy left his band Hackensack boys In order to work with his dad and the business
I’m guessing that’s the plan
I ordered a Stelling from Geoff a couple of months ago and when I did he told me that I had called just in time because he was retiring. Not sure if anyone is going to take over but from what he said it doesn't sound like it. Who knows, maybe I'll have the privilege of owning the last Red Fox that Stelling built.
Thanks Bill - yes, that's what I heard too.
What an incredible contribution Geoff has made to acoustic music! In my dealings with him, he's been an absolute gentleman.
Enjoy the Red Fox!
This is the answer Geoff gave to a guy in the Stelling group that asked if he was retiring:

You are all accurate in your assessment of the current situation. I am 77 and not getting any younger, so all will come to an end sometime. I have plans to continue in 2021 with a few of my best employees. We may make 100 banjos or maybe less depending on what we make. If we continue past 2021, till my 50th year in business, I will be happy and blessed to have lived so long. Hoping for the best.
