Hi all,
I have the Sunday blahs. I tried to play a little but, nothing really came out right. Does anyone have any recordings or videos that help to ignite the 3 finger passion?

There are literally hundreds of free tabs in the tab archive. If you read and play by tab, there must be dozens of tunes there that would motivate you to try something new and get those creative juices flowing again.

Check out the media library and see the newest videos and listen to the songs there. Something might hit you that would get you going again.

If you have CDs/DVDs/MP3s, listen to them and maybe a certain song would get you going.

Check out the Sound Off forum. Doug has a pretty nice version of Blackberry Blossom that would be nice to play. Butch Robins has several tunes that should turn you on, as do many others.

I've been working on the blahs for a month, where it feels like a waste of my time and everybody else's just to open the case.

If I have the "blahs" I just leave the banjo alone and do something else until the feelings go away. If I feel blah I'll play blah so why try.

Connect with some other pickers. That will the be the best way to connect and motivate.

Some Youtube videos inspire me and make me want to play an instrument. There are lots of great tunes for vocals and innstruments. Heck, Youtube has introduced me to new tunes that became part of my regular playing rerertoire. Some are downloadable.

Set goals for yourself. Nothing motivates more than when you recognize progress and success. One common project that many pickers have used is to learn to play the entire Foggy Mountain Banjo album as close as possible to he way Earl played it. There is tab available but it also makes excellent ear training if you first learn by ear, slowing down the recordings and then check with the tab if necessary That will do wonders for your chops.
