Anyone got a good tab for this? I need a good starting point. They are hard to find…something in the vein of Butch Robins approach to the song would be greatly appreciated.

Since you mention Butch Robbins, I suppose you are looking for 3-finger tab. There are quite a few clawhammer tabs around.

That was one of the first tunes I ever worked up on banjo. The problem is, I play it in open D tuning (aDF#AD), not very bluegrass of me, but I play all of my D tunes in open D, and have for years.  That's up to more than 150 tunes in D these days. Anyway, here is a snippet of video of me playing it with Mark "Clawgrass" Johnson at the 2nd Maryland Banjo Academy back around 1998. You might see some people you know, if you're old enough.  wink

I do have a tab on my website, which has the melody and a harmony and back-up part, too.
