Anyone know whether a 70s Alvarez ("Silver Belle"?) will accept a modern long-skirt flathead tone ring as a "drop fit," without needing any work in the rim?

I'm thinking the one I had here in my shop was a fake Tubaphone with a bracket band,

Does this have anything to do with a Sloan tone ring?

I was wondering why an inferior import would mount a superior ring like that?

I believe the Silver Bell has a Mastertone-flathead style tonering. The Silver Princess has the Tubaphone ring. A different flathead tonering could work for the Silver Bell, but don't you think you need a short-skirt ring?

I was wrong, very well done Emiel. I had the Silver Princess, the inlays and dots were all off just a little, they used left hand thread on the tailpiece ball bracket, it threaded directly into the bottom rod, patent dodging.

And yes, I think he could use another type of ring.

That's why he's selling the Sloan.
