After 3 years of hard labor work boots finally gave out. Decided on new boots. Purchased a really nice boot on sale and it fit like an old shoe comfortable....got back home put them on and headed for the door. Uh oh, wife stops me and says, “You’re not going to work in those new boots are you?” I said stupidly, Yes....that’s why I bought them”....she says....”wear your old ones if your gonna work in them”......confused I stood for a moment and then asked her if she knew a work shoe place that sold old dirty worn out BRAND NEW work boots?”.....she mumbled something I couldn’t quite make out........the door squeaked closed behind me.

To here her talk, you would think that she was "footing" the bill.

My wife does that as well, with yard shoes. Just the other day, I wore my better leather active shoes while mowing the yard. She asked me why I did not bother to change my shoes first. Arrgghhhhh brad

I usually wear waterproof slip on shoes 24/7 when I go down cellar , or out side , & barn boots when very wet or wacking weeds or mowing due to ticks or when snow plowing .

My bride is about the same way, new boots don’t get dirty for a while, i rotate boots out, new pair for dress, older pair for work, then when the old pair gets worn out, the dress pair goes to work and a new pair is bought for dress.

Works out well, ‘cause by the time the dress boots turn to work boots, they are broken in well enough to wear all day at work.

Saying that, I wear Redwings, i think instead of breaking the boots in, the boots break me in to them, but they last better than any other brand i’ve gotten by a longshot, and comfortable after break in

I miss wearing my boots. I've got a bone spur right under my Achilles tendon and when not inflamed, it's about the size of a walnut. No remedy besides cutting the tendon, grinding the bone, and reattaching the tendon. The doc said it's a very long recovery time with no weight on the foot. I just can't do that, too much work to do around here. I'm relegated to wearing Crocs that I cut the heel out of so it doesn't rub and flare up. Not ideal on a dairy goat farm. Enjoy those new boots...and the old ones.

Sandals?...I'll hold my tongue ... but if you want to give your feet a treat check out the good ol' sole less  moccasins prefer made by native Americans....they're expensive but you'll love them....I need a new pair and I'm saving up

All my shirts, pants, shoes and boots turn into "Work clothes" eventually.
My favorite work boot is the Herman Survivor.I'm still using my first pair which I bought in 1987.
All I've ever done is replace the laces and a new pair of sole inserts once a year.

Maintenance was coating them with vaseline by paint brush once a year.
