I mentioned these workshops in another thread about Old G tuning, and I thought it deserved to have its own message thread. Adam will present 4 weekly workshops via Zoom in conjunction with the Nashyville Acoustic Camps run by Megan and Adam Chowning. The workshops start on Tuesday, October 19 at 8:30 EDT. The workshops will be recorded and, thus, available for those who cannot or choose to attend them live. The fee is $100. Amessage from ADam is below with a link for more information and registration

Hello banjo friends,

I hope that this note finds everyone happy, healthy, and enjoying the changing of seasons. While the leaves here in southern Virginia are only barely beginning to show signs of fall, the crisp air and cooler temperatures are here and most welcome, too.

Another online banjo workshop opportunity is right around the corner, and I wanted to give you a heads-up about the fun that is planned. Nashville Acoustic Camps will once again be hosting this four-session Zoom workshop series on Tuesdays starting on October 19 (which can also be attended asynchronously); if you joined me for the springtime session on Sawmill-tuned repertoire, you know that Megan Lynch Chowning really has her act together on the e-tech and logistics fronts, which is such a relief for me!

This new series for upper-intermediate clawhammer banjo players will focus on one of my favorite topics: the gEADE tuning, often considered to be in the “Sandy River Belle” and “Cumberland Gap” tuning families, and my preferred way to play in the key of G. You may never wish to use the open-G tuning again after experiencing this distinctive-sounding and user-friendly alternative! Complete details, including important prerequisites, plus a registration link are available here:

Please let me know if you have any questions about the series. Hopefully I will see some of you among the tiny Zoom boxes!

Adam’s workshops offer so much. I wonder what tunes he’ll be covering.
