My son is a vendor there this weekend.  He sells cigar box guitars and wooden kazoos.  He recently added these to his kazoo line:

The moved out of my range. I loved the trade show part. Also they had the masters fiddle contests when in Nashville making it a double whammy for me--enjoy while you can

Congratulations Joe and Rock Hearts! Great band, great people, so exciting! Disappointed that my new job prevents me from going this year but I can’t wait to see video!

Nice going, Joe. As Lynda just said, your band is terrific. IBMA was an entirely virtual event last year, nice to see it back. I attended every year from 2002-2019 (and before that, in 1996). Over the years I acquired three of my banjos there. I'm playing it extra safe this year, hope to return next year.

We went this afternoon.  Smaller crowds, fewer "street" stages, fewer street vendors and many of the exhibit hall spaces were vacant,  Elderly was absent and they always had a large booth in past years.   Their "marked" location was being used as an ad hoc dining area.  Martin had a large booth, but Nechville banjos was absent as were most other instrument makers.  My wife (a fiddle player) commented she did not see any fiddles for sale!

As we have gone every year since it came to Raleigh (except last year of course), this year is different.  I know of some good pickers who opted out this year due to Covid concerns.  I am sure that this concern, as well as Raleigh's Covid restrictions/mask requirements, have put a damper on the event and resulted in many vendors and pickers opting out of the event this year.

I have to say that the bands I heard on the various stages were still excellent, so that is still something worth while to come out for.  As for the rest of the event, it is smaller.  I know that I was there early (for pickin' and late night "going ons"), but I was interested in the other areas of the day tme event - especially the exhibition hall,  I'll try to get back tomorrow, as I would expect things to pick up.  Maybe some more street vendors and exhibition hall vendors will show up Saturday...

So, it is not the same as 2019 - but it is not over yet...

Take it Easy ... MarK

So, this banjo maker and Nechville were the only banjo makers that showed up?

Few banjo makers showed up? Huh... about half of the Award Winners didn't show up either.

Nechville was not there.  I was the only banjo maker with a booth.

I don't remember them mentioning John Hickman either.
