The folks at Rickard banjos have done it once again & built something special. This is an 11" maple banjo out of the custom shop with a pyramid style tone ring, like the ones used by Gibson in the late 20's in their style 2 banjos. That tone ring gives this Rickard a very focused punch while the hide head keeps it warm. The radius fretboard makes it very comfortable and easy to play.
Since it plays so easily I felt that this was the best time to play my favorite & the hardest track on Reed Martin's Old Time Banjo project, "Barbara's Tune".
Thanks again to Sean, Bill and the whole staff at Rickard for coming up with this little powerhouse oldtime banjo. Be sure and check it out at a Kentucky Thunder show near you!

If I had simply heard that, I’d have thought it was Reed. Great banjo, too.
Wow.. I would have thought it was Reed Martin as well! That was great.
I really enjoyed that.
Congrats on the banjo
This is beautiful Russ. I really enjoy your clawhammer playing. Recently, when was learning Gaspe Reel I ran into your video and it was an inspiration. Will there be a clawhammer album?
I love it! Very, very nice.
Nice banjo and playing!
Very nice. I love the tone, and your playing makes me want to go burn my banjo.
