Hi, I'd like to know if the Windsor Whirle Ambassador Supremus banjo is actually worth buying? Would it be suitable for a relative beginner (been playing the guitar a few years, banjo a few weeks).
I think we'd need more information about the specific banjo to offer a worthwhile opinion, ideally with a few photos. Some things like strings, bridge and head are simple and inexpensive to replace, but structural damage, warped neck, cracks and splits in the neck, badly worn frets could be so expensive to fix as to render it unviable.
That said, my first banjo was a Windsor Premier. I played it for several years including a few as a semi-professional musician, and it served me very well. The Ambassador Supremus is a much higher quality instrument, but it's condition is critically important when deciding to buy.
