Does anyone have any records or cassettes of Red Spurlock banjo pickin? He played some with Dan Crary, and Bluegrass Alliance. He did a a great job on Beaumont Rag. I would like to buy some of His music if anyone has it.
PICK 1936.

I think I remember this guy as Buddy Spurlock. A friend of mine played me a Bluegrass Alliance album on vinyl way back in the 1970s with Buddy Spurlock on banjo, and I really enjoyed it.
I met Dan Crary when my band played as support to him at a concert in Brighton in the UK in the 1980s. I asked what Buddy Spurlock was doing, and was told 'Probably pumping gas'!
I imagine all of the Bluegrass Alliance recordings went out of print years ago. However, if you search for Buddy Spurlock on Discogs , you can find out what albums he played on. If you then search Takes Bluegrass Channel on YouTube you'll probably find them.

I believe that Red Spurlock and Buddy Spurlock are/were not the same person.

I believe Wayne is correct. Red Spurlock was based in the Dayton, Ohio area, and played with Red Allen, Frank Wakefield, Johnnie McKee, and Evan Lanier. Buddy Spurlock was one of the founding members of the Bluegrass Alliance in the late 60s, along with Dan Crary; they were based in Louisville, Kentucky. Beaumont Rag was the fifth track on their 1969 American Heritage LP. So I think it is clearly Buddy that Lee, the OP, is thinking about. And yeah, I bought that album when it came out, and his picking on Beaumont Rag blew me away, too. Wayne can tell you.

The banjo break starts at 1:30.

Here's a link to the whole album:
