It's HERE!!!! A Clawhammer Christmas by Dan Clawdan Levenson is a collection of 30 of the most loved Christmas songs transcribed in tablature for the 5-string banjo for the clawhammer style with chords provided for accompanying instruments.

Written in his clear and traditional style, Dan has finally made these holiday favorites accessible to all clawhammer banjo players with good basic skills. In short, it’s a double-thumb, drop-thumb Clawhammer Christmas for all! Build your skills as you entertain family and friends and maybe even yourself!

All songs have been written in one of the three basic old-time banjo tunings of G, double C or G modal. This will allow you to find the tune in a fingering you know and capo to the key you sing in with ease.

Tunes tabbed in this book:
Angels We Have Heard On High; Auld Lang Syne; Away in a Manger; Breakin’ Up Christmas (fiddle tune); Children Go Where I Send Thee; Christmas Eve (Uncle Dick Hutchinson); Deck the Halls; The First Noel; Go Tell It on the Mountain; God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen; Good King Wenceslas; Hark the Herald Angels Sing; The Holly and The Ivy; I Saw Three Ships on Christmas Day; It Came Upon the Midnight Clear; Jingle Bells (C and G tunings); Joy to The World; O Come All Ye Faithful; O Holy Night; O Little Town of Bethlehem; O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree); Silent Night; Sussex Carole; Toyland; Twelve Days of Christmas; We Three Kings; We Wish You a Merry Christmas (C and G tunings); What Child is This

Includes access to online audio. $15

Hi Dan!

Can you post a video or two of you playing arrangements from your new book A Clawhammer Christmas?  Perhaps from some of the more common Christmas songs that anyone might recognize.

I am the proud owner of three of your books!  I really like your approach and arrangements, very melodic, great for playing solo if need be.  I am just starting clawhammer (in about 4 or 5 months) I've already worked through most of the songs from your From Scratch book.  I'm now working on a few of the Festival Favorites.  I am thinking a Christmas book would be a great addition; would make a nice Christmas gift too.  Just want to hear a few first since the Mel Bay sample audio is a tune that I don't recognize... kinda through me off.  If you can, I'd recommend Mel Bay choose a more familiar tune like Good King Wenceslas or Jingle Bells.  Thanks!

Hi Matt,

Glad you are enjoying my books. I could send you an audio link if that would help Matt. I have not done any videos for that one though.

Play Nice,

I received mine a few weeks ago and have been enjoying running through all the tunes every so often. Once we're past Halloween, I'll be hitting it in earnest -- good seasonal fun! This is gonna spice up the family gatherings this year, and $15 very well spent.

For you mando folks out there, Smokey Mountain Christmas for Mandolin by Steve Kaufman has some really great arrangements as well.

Clawdan and mandobanjolibrarian
I found the audio files! These sound very nice for solo banjo, which is what I am 99% of the time. Thanks Dan for putting together these arrangements. This book is on the wish list for this Christmas :)
