I just got this 5 string 38 bracket open back banjo. The head is sort of Buckbee style, but with a point. The neck is maple, kind of chunky, figured, with no skunk stripe. The head veneer and fingerboard are rosewood. No markings on the dowel I can see. the body is maple half clad in copper, half in tin or nickle silver. It has a simple copper tone ring and simple tuners
Looks like a recent (post 1970ish) homemade neck on an older cheap rim, perhaps by Rettberg & Lange.
thank you, Andy, that may account for the chunky neck and the newer tailpiece.
