After a couple of mailbox baseball attacks, my father asked his neighbor for help. Charlie worked construction for the railroad and took an eight foot length of freight line rail (extremely heavy stuff), sink it into concrete and welded a steel plate box to the top of it. He tack welded a regulation mailbox shell to the steel box. The mailbox took some hits but was barely dented. I wish I had a photo to share.
