I just obtained a Jany Banjo that was once owned by George Senski, the captain of the Avalon String Band in the early 80s. It had been sitting in his daughter's garage for 20 years, and so hasn't gone up Broad Street for a while!
Ivan built banjos in Philadelphia for decades, and are a prized possession for Mummers. They're LOUD, and you can hear them over the saxes and drums. I heard that he made the Oettinger clone tailpieces himself.
