I don't know if Steve Gill is still making these but I heard he wasn't doing well. Who are some other luthiers/places to get a finished prewar style resonator?
Sullivan sells un-finished resonators with tapered walls. Can't say to what extent they're "pre-war style."
You can inquire as to getting one finished. If Eric can't do it, you could send it to John Boulding, Richie Dotson, Bob Chuckrow, or any number of luthiers, too numerous to list.
You can call or email Steve Gill to find out if he's still making them. Here's his info:
Phone: (618) 662-6128
Cell: (618) 676-5126
I haven't talked to Steve in awhile so I'm not sure how he's doing. I only live about 45 minutes from him, but working 7 days a week for the last 3 years, I haven't hardly had time to do anything.
He just made one for me less than a month ago. Good guy to do business with.
Check with Jimmy Coxes' grandsons. Jimmy used to sell finished pre-war style resonators.
