We have a couple of shallow walls on each side of our shallow counter, in our 110 year old kitchen. The walls are only 13” wide. Having run out of space for knives I always wanted to put knife racks on these walls. I could get narrow enough magnetic racks that that are 12” long. I only found them in natural and black. I bought natural.
Then my says they would look so much better painted white. So I painted them. Taping off the magnetic strips was a b/itch!
Anyway, just got em up. Offered some careful and safety precautions I could see right away. Told her, at first stitches, we could consider taking them down. ;-)

So, I am enlisting your suggestions for what to put on opposite wall. See pics.
Thanks, brad

How about cooking utensils like ladles, spatulas, slotted spoons, stuff like that. If that's not what you want, how about a couple of long and narrow pictures that would look at home in a kitchen? I have pictures of fruit and pictures of wine in wine glasses. Just a thought.

Some kind of a rack to hang measuring spoons, measuring cups, citrus juicer, garlic press.
Those things are all over my kitchen. Things I make much use of. There never seemed to be a simple way to heap them all together.

I have a browning db.  But I am pretty confident that won't pass the wife seal of approval.  Brad

If you only knew how good of a recommendation that is.  There has been much blood spilled in that kitchen in 45 years.

When you have company, does everybody hang out in the kitchen while you build super?
You need a poster for that second wall which diagrams how to cut up an ostrich.
Say nothing. Ostrich are no screaming hello to eat. Legs and that's about it.

Brad ,
Among other things , I'm a safety minded cautious old fart & get a little spooky seeing the collection of knives hanging up there by magnets waiting to get bumped by a mop handle or whatever ?
How about some simple wood retainers affixed to the wall at the lower end of the blades ?

Yea, We wanted to clear at least one knife block off of the small counter.  After I put up the knives, I heard Mr. Murphy laughing.

We will see how it goes for while.  ... Famous last words, eh.

I have coached my wife to always look at what she is grabbing, watch for neighboring knife handles as she reaches, and never be leaning her head and body over the counter while reaching for a knife.   We'll see.

You could do a couple of shelves for the mixer and bowl, if it lives in that spot on the counter, and maybe hang a Keurig cup holder. That might free up a little counter space.

Yes, as you have seen, Counter space is precious in our kitchen.  Thanks for the suggestions.  Brad
