Are Stelling frets glued in?

Not very much.
At least not on mine, which is 30+ years old
When the first few on mine got too worn, rather than pay shipping both ways to get them replaced by Stelling's capable crew, I removed some from way up near the body, so I'd KNOW they were exactly the right stuff.
Replaced the up-the-body ones with fretwire from Stu-Mac.
Anyway: What I did was run a soldering iron across the fret, ran a razor tipped Xacto knife along the edge of the fret, a bit UNDER the fret, and VERY CAREFULLY dug it loose.
Not the first fret job I'd ever done. just the first one it would have been a horrifyingly expensive mistake, had I upfucculated ANY point in the process.
