I know the 85 elite is maple and sunburst, do perhaps an 80?

Looking at stores on line, it appears that the RK 85 is mahogany, while the RK 85 Elite is maple

I had an RK-R80 and the inside label said RB-80. I just figured it was a typo.

I can tell you with certainty that the label indicates a date of May, 2009. Other than that, I got nuthin.

No.

The R85 was a fancier version of the R80 and maple instead of mahogany. Both are long discontinued. This appears to be an R80 with the wrong label. Perhaps a rim swap. Who knows?

The Elite 85 is a different banjo with a longer scale and other differences.

85 confuses a lot of people these days. Poor choice of number from RK.

One would hope that their QC was a little tighter.

Recording King was always trying mimic Gibson as authentically as possible. Maybe a confusing catalog and inconsistent labeling is part of that?

Hey Bob

All I can say is if I put the labels in Chinese and you had to do it day in and day out I bet there is a chance the same thing could happen ( g )

Ive seen this more than a few times on California Fenders
