I know some don't care for fifth string capos, but I and a good many others do. The Shubb is by far the nicest solution to the problem in my estimation if one is going to use one. Anyway, I bought a used Shubb a while back and needed screws to mount it. The Shubb company sells them for $2, very reasonable considering the nuisance of packing them up and so on. I tried to order them, and then found that the website wanted to charge me many times more than that to ship them to Canada. I sent a protest by email, probably a little heated but not disgracefully so. I also mentioned the Shubb capos distributed in every banjo and guitar case in the house.

Within, a few hours, on a Sunday, I received a very nice email from Rick Shubb apologizing for the glitch in the website, saying that he appreciated my business and was going to send me the screws gratis. A nice guy who works weekends because it's his company. It's hard not to be impressed with his attitude, and besides he makes good products. I think it's good to send out a little praise once in a while to those who deserve it.

"A little heated" for a Canadian would be nothing here in the States :-)

Shubb is a great company. Their yoke style capos are an incredible value. Products have always been top quality. I still have my first clamp on Shubb from 1980.

Good to know, I too have Shubb capos all over and I seem to always buy another when I can’t find one. I now have three banjo capos but only one banjo. At least I’m supporting a small business with an owner who cares about his customers.

A message from a Canadian that was "a little heated" probably made their day! Undoubtedly handed around for all to marvel at! I hope you used the word "hoser".

I enjoyed your post!

In my entire life I have never heard a Canadian use the word hoser.

I would love to hear the word being used in its natural habitat someday

I recently purchased a Shubb F5g for 80 for a 1400 banjo. So worth it: a fine little machine that exudes quality every time I touch it.
