There is a 1928 Granada on ebay. It has a Sullivan flathead conversion ring, an uninteresting 5-string neck. It had been replated and has some other replaced parts. I have no interest in it, EXCEPT that it is 8921-6.

This is the ONLY littermate to my 28 TB-Granada # 8921-3 that I have ever seen since obtaining mine in 1974. For that reason, I would entertain the notion of buying it. But, I don't find that a compelling-enough reason.

I can think of much better reasons to buy an instrument.
I don't know if I can think of any reasons that are much weaker.

Unless, perhaps, if the banjo sounds unusually good and the price is unusually low. But since it's on ebay, you won't have the opportunity to check it out before pulling the trigger, or the option to return it.

You would probably find it difficult to sell such an instrument later for anything more than a very low price.

If what you're looking for is advice, mine would be "no."

I already decided it was not something I want. Just interesting to see a littermate, even though it has been molested,

I sold that banjo several years ago for the widow of the owner. At that time it also had its 40 hole arch top original tone ring.

I gave a few seconds' thought to buying it from her myself, but the Gibson replate job convinced me otherwise.

It's a nice enough banjo IMHO.

That banjo is just about 2 and a half hours northeast of where I am (I’m currently in Whitewater (KS) for the Father’s Day holiday.)

Nevertheless, I’m not planning on buying it.

BUT if I had approximately $12,000...

I would have jumped all over this one but that Flying Eagle inlay is a deal breaker for me.

I could be wrong, but 12k sounds high to me for just about any Mastertone without its original tone ring. 12k will buy a clean style 6 archtop.

$12,000? The banjo I referred to, and I thought the OP referred to, is this one at opening bid $7000.

ebay.com/itm/294228506263?hash...wy0xgyLR~

I doubt it will reach $12,000.

My mistake. I assumed that Luke had looked it up.
