The old ballad about the 1903 train wreck near Danville, Virginia. One I heard back in the 1960’s by Flatt &Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys.

Thanks, Scott.  That's my 1978 ODE Style C.

Very nice rendition of a great classic--nice job, Chas ... fine-sounding old Ode, as well!

finally got around to listen to it Chuck. First break , good melody render with bells and whistles--Second one venturing into licks ,really nice stuff ,repeating rhythm patterns (,kinda} with the right hand making it work. Then I have no idea how you got that 3-2 pull off there at last,

"Step right up, step right up!

Hear a classic train wreck song, with every note delivered crisp and clean and right on time!"

Loved the picking.

By odd coincidence, first time I ever heard it on a record, it was another Canadian, Hank Snow.

Just out of curiosity: What's the best known train wreck song about a Canadian wreck?

Thanks, Mike. I can’t recall any Canadian train wreck songs,, but there’s probably a few out there. I bet Jim Yates would know.

An interesting back story to the song and it’s hitmaker Vernon Dahlhart.
