Trying to to get some info on this old banjo. Belongs to an older friend. It was his grandpa banjo. He was told it was 1927

Well, that looks to be a 1930’s RB-00. And it looks all there, but rode hard and put up wet.

Very nice instruments. I have one similar. Great sound. Light as a feather as Gibsons go.

They usually have a very thin rim on them, I think 1/2" or so. No tone ring of any kind. Though I have seen one or two with a standard rim in them and they are something else.

In very good condition. I’ve seen them sell for 3-4K.

Post some more photos of you can. Front back and tuners. Others will chime in.

I personally think these are the great sleepers right now. Mine is an incredible player and has some sound to it.
