I'm doing horrible. My dopamine is always out of balance, but tonight it's especially frustrating. With low dopamine levels, life seems pretty pointless. My brain naturally over produces dopamine, which can cause psychosis. So they have me on a drug which lowers the reception of dopamine. And it's really hard to find the balance between too much and not enough in the dosages available. I see the doc next week, I'm going to ask him about this.

Psychiatry is both art and science.
There are multiple drugs, in an array of strengths, in the class of medications your psychiatrist is trying you on.
In addition, these are usually used in combination with drugs from other classes of medications.
It should not take long before your psychiatrist has targeted a regimen that is going to work for you.
What you are going through is a real b****. I know it's difficult right now. But there will be better days ahead, I promise you. When that day is here, you will be so grateful and amazed that life can be so wonderful !
As for today, you are in the thoughts and prayers of many, myself included.

First of all, you're really brave for posting this to a social media site with thousands of active members.

Second, you're really smart to do this because you have friends here, and the moral support you will receive is helpful.

Getting brain chemistry right is often difficult, but it can be achieved. Hang in there.

I too have a medical condition which I will not expand upon here.

My advice to you, when the going gets tough...take it 1 day at a time. It's the small victories.

Hang in there you're not alone.

We're with you, Doug.

If you can get attention sooner, go for it.

This, too, shall pass. You're tough.

hang in there Doug it will pass. are you familiar with monthly up and down cycles.?? times of the month when you could wrestle a bear...ups???... and times when yo just gotta stay in and lock the door??? its natural just more pronounced in some. Learn the cycles and it really helps get through the lows (or avoid the lows). Also recently I was found to be very low and out of B12...it was effecting, thinking...depression....a whole host of other problems........I've been taking B12 shots once a week  and have been feeling way better.......and may need them the rest of my life...B12 pills do not work on me. I have to get injections. Check your blood count. I know what you're going through . I have a family member who's been on every chemical known to mankind for depression and he still has problems. Good luck and please try to think positive. God gave you such a great talent. Use it.
